BEYOND THE STORM
Music by Kathy Schallert, words by Kathy Schallert, bridge by Nancy Adams, Kathy Schallert Music Ministry ©1994
I've always been amazed at how a most miserable and desperate situation
can be turned into a necessary, life changing event.
I have  seen God's presence so clearly through people who have found the strength
to carry on, though their lives seem to be falling apart. As I wrote this song,
I realized just how thankful I am, for all the things He's chosen to keep from me,
that have caused me to lean on Him.

LYRICS:
I want to thank You for Your faithfulness
For all You've seen me through
And I want to thank You for the things You've kept from me
That have caused me to lean on You

I want to thank You for Your tenderness
And for each tear that has fallen from these eyes
For now I'm sure with every step that I take
You even hold me when I cry

Chorus:
When I cannot see beyond the storm
When I need the strength to carry on
You are my shelter and even more
You are peace.....beyond the storm

Well I want to thank You for Your open arms
Gently reaching out to me
Even when I cannot understand Your plan
You give me strength Lord, to let it be

Chorus:

Bridge:
And when the clouds hide away the sun, and the wind turns a bitter cold
I'll lift my heart to You Lord, I will lift up my heart to You Lord

HE'S ALL I NEED
Words and music by Kathy Schallert ©1985
God never intends for us to be afraid to love or trust others.
When His love abides in my heart I am not afraid.
His love is real.......It causes my need to love, to be greater than my need to be loved.
Jesus loves me, this I know....

LYRICS:
Love may come and go ya know sometimes it hurts so bad
I've felt the ache of emptiness a pain I often had
For so long I kept my heart within safe walls
Locked it up and tossed the key
Until I found there's healing love enough for all
These words of life were meant for me

Chorus:
He's all I need, He came and filled my heart with love I've never known
He gave my life new meaning, He called me His own
And now I know.....He's all I need

So many times I tried to open up the door
Never knowing Jesus had the key
Now in His light my need to love is even more
Than needing someone to love me

Chorus:

Bridge:
Even in the darkest night when it seems I can't hold on
His words of life become the breaking of the dawn
He's all I need

Chorus:

MAMA Click to hear a short clip of "Mama"
Words and muisc by Kathy Schallert  ©1993
Two weeks before my daughter's 18th birthday we had this huge fight.
I hadn't really noticed just how grown up she had become.
She needed to be who she wanted to be and she let me know!
We said the things you say when you're real upset, and then barely spoke for days.
Then the Lord gave me this song, and I gave it to my daughter for her birthday.
As we held each other and cried I realized that no matter how old she gets,
or how far away she may be, she will always be my baby.....
.....and I will always be her Mama.

LYRICS:
As I wipe the tears now from my eyes
Remembering the words she said and how they made me cry
Thinking back on all that we've been through
The words still echo back at me there's nothing I can do
My little girl has grown and gone away
And now it hurts to hear her say

Chorus:
Mama, just stay away from me
I don't need you anymore
It's time for you to let me be
And don't come after me I'm not your baby....anymore

Well times were good and sometimes things were bad
How could I know that memories of those times were all I'd have
Of pony tails and laughter in the halls
I'll cherish all those memories and pictures on the walls
Oh how she needed me each day
Now it hurts to hear her say

Chorus:         Instrumental:

You train 'em up to know what's good, what's right
The simple things and Jesus is the Guiding Light
And hope someday that they will understand
We do our best and Mama's here to lend a helping hand
I've made mistakes along the way, please forgive me
How I long to hear her say

Mama, don't stay away from me
Now I need you even more
With grown-up eyes I see, you did your best for me
Do you still love me like before?

This Mama's love won't ever let you be
I'll always love you, care 'bout all you do
I'm still your Mama.........like before

HOLD ME TOGETHER
Kathy Schallert Music Ministry ©1994
There was nothing imparticular going on in my life
when I wrote this song, but God knew I would need it later on.
There are always those times when I need a little more holdin'.
I am thankful for His outstretched arms.

LYRICS:
Father God I need You close to me
In my heart is where I want You now to be
Hold me together in Your loving hand
Father God I'll love You to the end

Lamb of God I need You close to me
In my heart is where I want You now to be
Hold me together till You come again
Lamb of God I'll love You to the end

Breath of God I need You close to me
In my heart is where I want You now to be
Hold me together in the peace You send
Breath of God I'll love You to the end

Hold me together till You come again
Oh God, I'll love You to the end
Oh God, I'll love you to the end

LIGHT OF THE WORLD
Words and music by Kathy Schallert © 1994
I never could have imagined that God, in His mercy,
would continue to use this song to heal the darkest parts of my soul.
He is indeed the Light of my world......
Shine on me Lord!

LYRICS:

There's a child that lives inside me who wants to say what's on her mind
It's time I need to tell you Lord the reasons why I hide
They've hurt and criticized me someone stole away my youth
Now I'm living in a grown up world and I'm running from the truth
There's a child that lives inside me and I'd really like to try
And trust You with my broken dreams and let You love me and not ask why

Sometimes I look around me and I can see in others eyes
That same desperate need to run away, do You see through our disguise
Let the river of Your mercy have it's way within our souls
Bless with gentle healing, only You can make us whole

Chorus:
You’re the Light of the world by Your mercy we are healed
Light of the world shine on me
You’re the Light of the world by Your mercy we are healed
Light of the world shine on me....shine on me

I know You are the healer so let the change in me begin
You've started here a perfect work oh continue to the end
Help me look beyond my troubles to find a place that's true
Let me remember when I want to run I need only run to You

Chorus:

Bridge:
How can it be
You changing me
Light of the world, show me the way

Chorus:

FAITH BABY
Kathy Schallert  ©1993
I get so distracted at times that I forget what is really important to me.
Things like "The joy of the Lord is my strength", and
"All things are possible with God".
The joy goes out of my life when I think I'm struggling alone.
I thank God for this happy little tune.
It brings back into focus just Who's doing what! (Mark 9:23)

LYRICS:

Well I've been walking down this road carrying a heavy load
Feeling lost and alone
And when I look up to the sky I always wonder why
Don't He hurry up and take me home
You know I'm working hard Lord to get the job done
But sometimes it just gets lonely and sometimes it just aint fun

Chorus:
But I got faith baby in the Lord
I got faith baby in the Lordy, Lordy, Lord
And I know He'll make everything all right
No matter where I roam I've always got a home
Cause I got faith baby

Well sometimes it slips my mind
And I feel I'm going blind to the power that is moving in me
When I go to town some of my friends are looking down
Oh Jesus please help us to see
That You have not forgotten us Your still in control
As I'm singing the blues I'm gonna let the rock roll

Chorus:

Well with Jesus by my side
Ya know I'm never gonna hide the fire that is burning in me
And when I go to town there'll be no more looking down
Cause Jesus has helped me to see
That He is working harder to get the job done
So we can go to heaven where were gonna have some fun

Chorus:

ALWAYS THINKING OF YOU Click to hear a short clip of "Always Thinking Of You"
Words and music by Kathy Schallert © 1996
God never intends for us to be afraid to love or trust others.
When His love abides in my heart I am not afraid.
His love is real.......It causes my need to love
to be greater than my need to be loved.
Jesus loves me, this I know...

LYRICS:

You are patient, You are kind
And You wait for me
While I just take my time
Searching all the world for true love of my own

Always faithful ever true
You can't remember when I'm wrong
Hoping only good
Though You suffer long

Are You saying that You love me
Are You saying that You care
Are You really thinking of me
Tomorrow will You still be there?

And what about tonight when I lay me down to sleep
With the troubles of the day
Where will tomorrow lead
Will You help me find the way?

I have to know for sure
That I'm really on Your mind
No matter where I go
No matter what I say, don't ever go away

Cause I'm saying that I love you
I am saying that I care
I am always thinking of You

THE LEAST OF THESE
Words and Music by Kathy Schallert © 1994
Have you ever looked into someone's eyes and realized
that you had the power to make or break their day?
I did.
Then I came home and wrote this song,
remembering the countless other times.
I pray to God that He will make me more sensitive
to the real needs of others in this world.
(Matthew 25:31-40)

LYRICS:

When I looked into those eyes today
I could see that hope was washed away
I'm wondering how this ever came to be
Could the one to touch a heart today be me

Attitudes of pride and selfish gain
Seem to still be in my way
All I have I really want to share it's true
Yet to those eyes I close my heart and I hurt you

Chorus:
Father God come take me into Your arms and break me
What I do for the least of these I do for Thee
Lord help me see, the least of these

How will I ever understand
If I never hold a trembling hand
No thought for me no motive for my gain
My only hope to help them find a way

Chorus:
Father God please take me into Your arms and break me
What I do for the least of these I do for Thee

Bridge:
Lord help me see, the least of these
The hungry and the thirsty, the stranger and the poor
The sick or those imprisoned, help me care a little more
For the least of these-----The least of these.....
The least of these.....The least of these.....

I'LL REST IN HIM ALONE
Words and music by Kathy Schallert © 1994
Questions robbed me of sleep, until one night
I picked up my guitar and wrote this song.
God comforted me and let me know
that questions must precede answers,
and endings are really just beginnings in disguise.
(Psalm 4:8)

LYRICS:

I know it's late at night and I should try and sleep
So much is on my mind and rest is far from me
I hear a quiet voice calling out my name
I know I'm not alone He understands my pain

As hard as I might try to make it on my own
I remember yesterday and all the love He’s shown
And so the past cuts through the night until I understand
Behind that quiet voice He still holds my hand

I want to praise You Lord because of who you are
How could I doubt You now, You've carried me this far

So with these thoughts in mind I lay me down to sleep
The troubles of this world they have no hold on me
For I have found a quiet place it feels so much like home
Near to the heart of God I'll rest in Him alone

I want to praise You Lord because of who You are
I'll never leave You now, You've carried me this far

Thank You for this quiet place it's feeling just like home
Keep me near the heart of God I'll rest in Him alone
Near to the heart of God
I'll rest in Him.....alone

CREATOR GOD
Words and music by Kathy Schallert  ©1989
John saw in a vision all those who had victory
over the beast, his image, and the number of his name.
They were standing on the sea of glass, playing harps of God,
and singing this deliverance song of Moses and the Lamb.
(Revelation 15:3,4)

LYRICS:

Creator God of the universe,
You’re my beginning, You’re my end
You made the heavens the earth and sea
You are the One who is, who was and who is to be

Marvelous are Your works Lord God Almighty
Oh how true are Your ways King of the nations
Who will not fear Oh Lord and glorify Thy Name
You alone are Holy, You alone are Holy

Creator God of the universe
You’re my beginning, You’re my end
You made the heavens the earth and sea
You are the One who is, who was and who is to be

Throughout the ceaseless ages of eternity
We will rejoice and give You praise
The marriage of the Lamb has come and His Bride is ready
You have made us Holy
You have made us Holy

Creator God of the universe
You're my beginning Your my end
You made the heavens, the earth and sea
You are the One Who is, Who was and Who is to be

The Ten Commandments  A Narration from "Patriarchs And Prophets" by E.G. White
As the eyes of all the people were turned toward the mount, its summit was covered with a thick cloud, which grew more black and dense, sweeping downward until the entire mountain was wrapped in darkness and awful mystery. Then a sound as of a trumpet was heard, summoning the people to meet with God; and Moses led them forth to the base of the mountain. From the thick darkness flashed vivid lightning’s, while peals of thunder echoed and re-echoed among the surrounding heights. And Mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the Lord descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.” “The glory of the Lord was like devouring fire on the top of the mount” in the sight of the assembled multitude.
And “the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder.” So terrible were the tokens of Jehovah’s presence that the hosts of Israel shook with fear, and fell upon their faces before the Lord.

And now the thunders ceased; the trumpet was no longer heard; the earth was still.  There was a period of solemn silence, and then the voice of God was heard. Speaking out of the thick darkness that enshrouded Him, as He stood upon the mount, surrounded by a retinue of angels, the Lord made known His law.

Exodus 20:1-17
I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt,
out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before me.

You shall not make for yourself any graven image,
or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above,
or that is in the earth beneath.
You shall not bow down to them, nor serve them:
for I the LORD your God am a jealous God,
visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children
unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me;
And showing mercy unto thousands, to those who love Me
and keep my commandments.

You shall not take the Name of the LORD your God in vain;
for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His Name in vain.

Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Six days shall you labour, and do all your work:
But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God:
in it you shall not do any work. You, nor your son,
nor your daughter, your manservant, nor your maidservant,
your cattle, nor the stranger that is within your gates:
For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth,
the sea, and all that is in them, And He rested on the seventh day:
Therefore, the LORD blessed the Sabbath day, and made it holy.

Honour your father and your mother: that your days may be long
upon the land which the LORD your God has given you.

You shall not kill.

You shall not commit adultery

You shall not steal.

You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

You shall not covet your neighbor’s house, nor his wife,
nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his donkey.
You shall not covet any thing that is your neighbor’s.

I AM Words and music by Kathy Schallert © 1995 Click to hear a short clip of "I AM"
The First Commandment
I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt,
out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

LYRICS:
I Am the Lord your God who brought you out of Egypt
Out of the land of slavery
I Am the Lord your God who brought you out of Egypt
I have set My people free

You shall have no other god's before Me
You shall love none other more than Me
I Am the Lord your God who brought you out of Egypt
I have set My people free

And God led the people by way of the Red Sea,  and He brought them out of the land of Egypt.
And Moses said to the people do not be afraid, stand and see the salvation of the Lord...
Remember this day in which you went out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage…
that the Lord’s law may be in your mouth, it shall be as a sign to you on your hand
and as a memorial between your eyes, for by strength of hand the Lord brought you out of this place.

Instrumental:

I Am the Lord your God who brought you out of Egypt
I have set My people free

Bow Down Words and music by Kathy Schallert© 1995
The Second Commandment
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me; And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love Me, and keep my commandments.

LYRICS:
Bow down and worship God
Bow down and worship God
Bow down and worship Him alone
For He alone is God

You shall not make idols in the form of anything
In heaven or on earth or in the waters here below
You shall not design them, bow down to them or worship them
For He alone is God

Bow down and worship God
Bow down and worship God
Bow down and worship Him alone
For He alone is God

Exodus 20:5, 6
For I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children
to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands,
to those who love Me and keep my commandments.

Bow down and worship God
Bow down and worship God
Bow down and worship Him alone
For He alone is God

Holy Is The Name Words and music by Kathy Schallert© 1995
The Third Commandment

for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

LYRICS:
Holy, Holy, Holy     is the Name of God
Holy, Holy, Ho---ly     is the Name of God

Don't take the Name of the Lord Thy God
For granted for He is God
It will be counted if you misuse
His Holy Name, His Holy Name

Holy, Holy, Holy     is the Name of God
Holy, Holy, Ho---ly     is the Name of God

Holy is the Name of God
Is the Name.....of God

The Fourth Commandment
Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work: but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.

LYRICS:
Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy
Six days shall you labor and do all thy work
But the seventh day is the Sabbath day of the Lord your God
In it you shall not do any work

You, nor your sons nor your daughters
Your manservant's or your maidservant's
Your cattle, nor the stranger that is within your gates
For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth
The sea and all that is in them
And He rested on the seventh day
Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy

For in six days the Lord made the heavens the earth and the sea
And all that in them is

Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy
Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy

Honour Words and music by Kathy Schallert© 1995
The Fifth Commandment
Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land
which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

LYRICS:
A child cannot know the way the Lord is choosing
The path to help them grow may seem their only loosing
But we're not called to know the beginning from the end
We are only called to obey the Lord's commands
Even when we cannot understand

Honor your father, honor your mother

The love of God is greater than the love we know on earth
To understand His wisdom is to honor those who gave us birth
For the image of God is in each human soul
By honoring that image we will truly be made whole
Even when we cannot understand

Honor your father, honor your mother

Bridge:
For we know that everything works together for our good
The plan to bring us now to His throne is working, as it should

If life has been unkind to you and still your heart does not have peace
The Lord He has the answer, forgiveness will bring sweet relief
So let’s remember our mothers and our fathers in our prayers
For they gave us life, it's a reminder of their love and that they care
Even when you cannot understand, even when you cannot understand

Honor your father, honor your mother

Honor your father, honor your mother
That your days may be long upon the land
That the Lord Thy God has given you
Honor your father, honor your mother
Honor your father, honor your mother

The Gift Of Life Words and music by Kathy Schallert© 1999
The Sixth Commandment
Thou shalt not murder.

LYRICS:
Mother against daughter, father against son
Oh the bitterness and anger can never be undone
Woman takes a husband, husband takes a wife
And in the name of ‘love and freedom’ someone takes a life

Please somebody tell me how we ever got this far
As we travel to our destinations we think of bullet-proofing cars
Tiny little babies, snug in mama’s womb
And at the hand of our professionals.....their next stop is the tomb
Why..............

Chorus:
We used to be a nation living under God
Undivided by our differences, united by one law
We used to be a people working side by side
We used to live together,  now we run and hide

From brother killing brother all across the land
Children killing children, help me understand
One against the other, I’m just asking why
We care so little for ourselves and destroy the gift of life

Chorus:
Don’t you want to be a nation living under God
Undivided by our differences, united by His law
Do you want to be a people working side by side
Do you want to live together

Bridge:
Father please forgive us for we don’t know what we do
When we’re angry and we’re killing, it must be killing You
Can someone give an answer, will no one testify
Ya know, we break the Law of God---and Someone, Someone has to die....Why?????

Chorus:
I want to be a family living under God
Undivided by our differences, united by His law
I want to be a people working side by side
I want to live together, I want to live as one
I want to live together, I want to live....
And behold the gift of life

Faithful Words and music by Kathy Schallert© 1996 Click to hear a short clip "Faithful"
The Seventh Commandment
Thou shalt not commit adultery.

LYRICS:
Remember how it felt to be so in love that you would marry
Forsaking any other, you said, "you’re the one for me”
Can you remember when it happened, that love began to die
A heart began to wander do you remember why
One thought, a look, some distraction, and you have lost your way
Soon you have forgotten what you promised on your wedding day

Chorus: I will be faithful, faithful, I'll be faithful

Remember heavens blessing, where two have been made one
What God has joined together shall never be undone

Now this is His commandment, oh be faithful, oh be true
As your there for one another, God has promised, to be with you

Chorus: He is faithful, He is faithful, He is faithful
He is faithful, He is faithful, He is faithful............
Faithful...........Oh be faithful...........Oh be faithful

Never let the sun go down on the anger of the day
Forgiving one another, forgetting who's to blame
Be gentle, tender hearted in everything you do
Surrender any wandering thought, and always say what's true

Stealin’ Kinda Feelin’ Words and music by Kathy Schallert© 1995
The Eigth Commandment
Thou shalt not steal.

LYRICS:
Ya work so hard most everyday just to give it all away
From the breaking of the day to the setting of the sun
You’re working & working & ya ain’t having fun
All through the day ya feel like somebody’s slave
Just to have a home with some bills you can’t pay
Every ones got so much more than you do and it just ain’t fair
For all the workin' you do

And ya think that there's an easier way
To get the things ya need instead of havin' to pay,
Then a strange little voice inside of you
Starts ya to thinking all of this through
Ya get a funny feeling way down deep in your bones
And that funny little feeling just won’t leave you alone
So it follows you home

Chorus:
Feelings coming over you
What will it take what will you do
When you know you’ve got to choose…..you’ve got to choose
It’s a stealin’ kind of feelin’
Over you…..over me too

And ya think that God should understand
Since He's been watching ya living hand to mouth, yeah mouth to hand
Doesn’t He know these feelings are real
It’s so easy for Him to say, “Do not steal”
And how about those rich folks who ain’t never been poor
They’re so busy buying, and spying, and lying, and trying, and crying for more
Their laughing and singing their life seems so grand
While you're down here trying to raise a family scraping dirt off your hands

Chorus:

Bridge:
As you lay your weary head upon your pillow
And close your eyes tonight
Do you wonder if just one time might be all right?

Instrumental:
If your wondering and worrying cause you don’t have enough
Just call up my Father He’s rich & He’s tough
He’s got a storehouse with treasures galore
And He gives stuff for free to the meek and the poor
He’s King of the lowly, He’s King of the hill
He’s been through some hard times so He knows how you feel
He understands just exactly your need
You might not get what you want friend
But you get what ya need

Well there’s one more little thing you must understand
This ain’t an option it’s the Father’s Command
This is the thing friends, this is the deal
No matter what you’re thinking, no matter how ya feel
You shall not steal, you shall not steal
No, no never steal……

If you really need to buy it, call on Him He will supply it
If you really need to buy it, call on Him He will supply it
So you don’t have to steal

Somebody Said......Words and music by Kathy Schallert© 1996
The Ninth Commandment
Thou shalt not bear false witness.

Are there words that one can say
To cause another undue pain?
Are there deeds one can do
To make a lie seem like the truth?

Chorus:
Ashamed that I, have so many times turned my ear that I might hear of you
I was there and I did not care when lies of you were spoken, as if true

How can I, justify
Talk of things that only God should hear
Could it be such faithless deeds
Bring to life, everything we fear

Ashamed that I have so many times turned my ear that I might hear of you
I was there and I did not care when lies of you were spoken, as if true

Somebody said so-and-so said this and that ‘bout you-know-who
Everybody ought to know, even if it isn’t true

Are you listening to idle words
Can you hear between the lines
Is there truth in all that you have heard
Or are they tattle telling, trouble making, trouble making lies

This foolish tattle telling trouble making mouth of mine
Wasting precious moments, wasting precious time

Wasting precious moments, wasting precious time
Wasting precious moments, devastating lives

More Words and music by Kathy Schallert© 1999  Click to hear a short clip of "More"
The Tenth Commandment
Thou shalt not covet.

Lord here we are at the end of another day
I’ve been unfaithful, I wanted more than You gave
The will of my own heart, disgraceful, deceived
Unholy desire, it rules over me

Discontent and still wanting I covet it all
Blind to the blessings, I covet, I fall
Who knows what I am missing, for want of it all
I really want You Lord, and I really want more

I see what I want, I want what I see
Aimless desire, run rampant and free
Possessions and power, envy and greed
Evil surmising, for just one more thing

This burden of wanting, wanting it all
Leaves me blind to the blessings, I covet, I fall
What will ever keep me from wanting it all?

You spoke in a moment and then there was light, and in Your own image You made us just right
You asked us to follow, You asked us to stay close by You forever and we turned away

And with Your own hand, the will of Your heart was written in stone that we might take part
We promised to follow, we promised to stay, close by You forever and we turned away

Then in Your wisdom, God became man, an innocent party according to plan
You asked us to follow, and showed us the way, You said ‘If you love Me’, and we turned away

So You gave up Your glory to die on a cross, redeeming the world while we were still lost   more of "More"
And on the third day, You stood up for me, At the right hand of God, what more do I need

(At the right hand of God) What more do I need (At the right hand of God) what more do I need
(At the right hand of God)..........At the right hand of God

If I only have You Lord, I want nothing more
